It's hot! Girl calls it “humid”, but it's all the same to me. When you're wearing a handsome fur coat all. the. time... it can get a little uncomfortable, but I would never want to be shaved - even if I could convince Girl to do so!! Once I saw a Golden coming out of PetSmart who'd just been shaved and he looked like a Lab! (not that I have anything against Labs, so don't get upset. I live with one for goodness sake! I just think if you want a short haired, happy, easier-to-train-dog: get a Labordor. But if you want a ruggedly handsome, long haired, happy, easier-to-train-dog: get a Golden.)
Sometimes people get annoyed when I pant on them. And sometimes I get annoyed when I'm around people who stink because they're sweaty...We all gotta keep cool during the summer, right?
Anyways, what have I been doing other than panting and thinking about the weather? Well, Girl had a family reunion this last weekend, and I had to stay home with Ivy and Buddy (aka the Lab), and Girl's grandma, who she calls Oma, pet-sat us (no pets were harmed in the pet-sitting).
At first I was pretty jealous that Girl got to go on a trip without me. After she left, I sighed, and lay down by the front door, just in case she came home early, or if someone tried to break in and rob us. ... After waiting about 30 minutes, I realized neither one was going to happen for a while, so I asked Ivy what we should do now that we had the house to ourselves. She was sleeping behind the woodstove, since it's cool back there in the summer, and didn't really want to do anything but nap. So I looked out the back window to see if there were any birds at "The Feeder" and I saw a chickadee, but it flew away when Luther the cat walked by.
Ivy STILL just wanted to be left alone, so I climbed up on the big blue couch and was thinking about how much fun it would be to go swimming, when I heard footsteps outside the door. Immediately I leap off the couch and started to bark. Ivy started barking too, but in a bit our upstairs neighbors got into their car and drove away. So I guess they weren't trying to steal something or give us cookies.... Actually, they've never given us cookies... OR taken anything from us... Maybe I need a better reason to bark...
After that, Ivy was fully awake so we wrestled for a while and raced up and down the hallway. Then we took a nap and before we knew it, Oma was giving us dinner and then Buddy was out to play with us in the living room. After a while Oma said it was bedtime, so Buddy went in his crate, and Ivy go on the couch. She said there wasn't any room for me, but I squeezed on beside her anyways. And there was plenty of room, so we soon fell asleep, dreaming of the things we could do if only Missy and Girl were home.
